Next week Feb. 27th-March 3rd is Read Across America Week! Listed below are the activities for the week:
Monday, Feb. 27th: Bring your favorite Dr. Seuss book to read/share with the class. The students will also enjoy popcorn as they listen to "Hop on Pop."
Tuesday, Feb. 28th: Silly Sock day- Students may wear their silliest socks that they have! We will read "Fox in Socks" on this day.
Wednesday, March 1st: Silly Hat day- Students may wear their favorite hat or a silly hat. We will read “Cat in the Hat." We will have a special snack this day.
Thursday, March 2nd: Dr. Seuss' birthday! Students may dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character from any story! Over the last few years I have seen Cindy Lou Who, The Lorax, Thing 1 or Thing 2, the Grinch, 1 fish 2 fish, Horton costumes and many more! Use whatever you may have at home to help your little ones create their costume/outfit.
Friday, March 3rd: Green Eggs and Ham day! Students may wear green and we will read "Green Eggs and Ham." The students will also enjoy a special snack.

Special sound: S Blends (Sh-ship, sk-skate, sc-scat, sm-smore, sp- spot) This week we will also be looking at letter Y making the i and e sound in words like try and baby,
Word Family: ig (twig, wig, big, dig)
Long Vowels- please review these concepts at home as you see this new concept beginning. Review short and long vowels at home when reading.
- We are learning about special sounds like the Y in my, by---the o in go, so--- and the e in me, be, we.
- We are also studying special sounds such as ing, oo, ar, er, ir, ur, ew, ow, ou please review these at home as well.
- Please also review the digraphs ph, ch, th, sh, and wh. (phone, church, thumb, shell, whale)

Handwriting: Please continue to work on line placement, neatness, and letter formation at home. Please also work on writing short sentences at home using sight words, color words, CVC words, etc. This will help your student when we participate in creative writing in the classroom.
Homework is due Friday, February 24th. A new packet will go home this Friday and is due on March 3rd.
